Literature Text

We,
The poets.

INVENTED
Love.

Through fabled fingers spouting metaphoric bliss,
Losing ourselves in their entrapping eyes,
Forgetting who we are,
Forsaken for our words.

Lost.

For what we think is love, we feel,
But only through our staggered breaths,
And stained innocence.
Beneath the dimming streetlights,
Hiding away in darkness.
A dress code less than strict.

A dance we needn't learn the steps to,
To a song that only we ascribe the lyrics.

Beneath the veil of something more,
The animal stands pacing.
And every touch,
Leaves our hearts racing,
Eyes locked,
Facing.
Gracing yearning lips with simple touch,

Lust only counting for so much,
There must be more to stay together,
Something there to make us forever.
Like a sign from up above,
Deluded poets call it love.
Hm? Feedback, please

I have to agree that this is a very well expressed work. I love the expressions and analogies in this and being free verse there is not much of a comment over rhyme (or meter in this case) but alongside it being free verse, there is a melody to it. So very well done poem :)
